Overview
IraVoice is a private, on-device dictation application for Apple-silicon Macs that converts speech into polished text or structured Markdown. Unlike cloud-based alternatives, all processing happens locally, ensuring sensitive audio and transcripts never leave the device. The app offers two workflows: a tap-to-dictate mode for everyday writing and a Voice-to-Spec mode that transforms spoken requirements into agent-ready briefs for tools like Codex or Claude Code.
Key Features
- On-device Privacy: Speech recognition uses Core ML models running entirely on the Mac, with no cloud processing, telemetry, or transcript storage. Microphone audio is never transmitted.
- Dual Workflow: Hold Right Option to dictate polished text directly into any focused text field, or hold Globe to generate a structured Markdown spec. Both modes operate with a single shortcut.
- Agent Handoff: Voice-to-Spec can optionally submit finished specifications to Codex or Claude Code via a visible Terminal session, giving users control over what leaves the machine.
- Transparent Claims: Published benchmarks show a 1.98% word error rate with Apple SpeechAnalyzer, and a privacy matrix compares 18 Mac dictation products across 33 criteria.
Target Audience
IraVoice is designed for Mac users who need reliable, private voice typing for writing, coding, or preparing structured briefs without relying on cloud services.
